Rotterdam premiere: Geoff’s giant tongue
It is hard to describe how strange it felt when “Do It Again” began playing tonight. Thanks to programmer Erwin Houtenbrink, we were in a big house, a 500-seat theater in the absolutely amazing Pathe 5 cinema. They tell me it was an IMAX screen. I believed it as my enormous head popped up and I could see every pore as well as disturbing sections of tongue.
But the most important thing: We scored.
The house was packed. The people stayed for the Q & A. I gave out hundreds of buttons. This is my first film festival and my first world premiere. But what I feared most – people snoring, people grumbling, people voting with their feet – never happened. Instead, we had what felt like hundreds of Dutch film lovers applauding Rob, Brad and Carlene – she got the flowers – and folks thanking me on the way out… and not just for the free button.
Special thanks to the members of the Dutch Kinks Preservation Society. They showed up in full force with their “Do It Again” t-shirts and stayed long after the rest of the others left. We took pictures, chatted and generally reveled in the moment.
Tomorrow, we’ve got our industry screening and then it’s back to the public for Saturday and Sunday.
The picture above doesn’t nearly do the scene justice but it’s all I’ve got.

Congratulations on a FANTASTIC first showing!!! We’re all rooting for you at home!
